IUOE JOB CORPS IS HIRING!
The IUOE Job Corps program is starting a Heavy Equipment Operator and a Heavy Equipment Mechanic pre-apprenticeship program at the Westover Job Corps Center at Westover AFB in Chicopee. This program is funded wholly by the IUOE Job Corps and the US Department of Labor.
Local 98 has been selected as the host local for this program, and will partner with Job Corps. Qualified graduates from the Operator and Mechanic program may be placed into the Local 98 apprentice program, or in a neighboring Locals’ apprenticeship program, depending on available opportunities.
Job Corps will be purchasing a fleet of heavy equipment for students, and outfitting the Local 98 shop with mechanic tools. Operator and mechanic field training will be conducted at Local 98, and mechanic apprentices will be performing repairs on the Locals’ equipment under supervision of Job Corps instructors. The heavy equipment will also be available for Local 98 members to train on, when not being utilized by the Job Corps students.
The Westover Job Corps program will need to hire two full time instructors- one operator instructor, and one mechanic instructor, and will be paid by and work for the IUOE Job Corps, while retaining Local 98 pay, benefits package and membership.
Again, this is wholly funded by the IUOE Job Corps and the Department of Labor, not Local 98. Instructors will work for the IUOE Job Corps, not Local 98.
Questions regarding the posting can be addressed to Mr. Joe Dixon at the IUOE Job Corps program at (724) 675-8022 or Jdixon@iuoe.org. See the listing and attached job descriptions below.
