Does the Benefit Office cover DOTs?
We have recently added additional DOT locations for your convenience. If you are in need of a DOT physical and you are currently covered under the health plan, please call the benefit office at 413-998-3230 for details on how you can have your DOT physical at no cost to you.

Why are calendar cards important?
Each quarter, I remind you of the importance of submitting your calendar cards monthly. Still, many of you do not take the time to complete and submit your cards so I thought I’d share some statistics.
The termination list for September 1, 2014 consisted of 51 Participants. This means that 51 Participants did not have enough hours submitted by their employers to give them eligibility on our benefit plan. Of those 51 Participants, 14 were able to continue on the Plan because they had submitted their calendar cards and because we were able to verify with their employer that the hours were in fact due and would be submitted timely on the Participants behalf. The other 37 Participants were terminated from the Plan. Of those 37, approximately 12 members were working and had the hours needed for coverage. Because the hours had not been remitted, and because we did not have calendar cards, we had no way of knowing these Particiants were working or who they were working for. Therefore, they were terminated from the Plan. These Participants have since been reinstated because their hours have since been received; however, they would not have had an interruption in their coverage had we had their calendar cards in the Fund Office.
PLEASE NOTE: ONCE YOU ARE TERMINATED FROM COVERAGE, WE CANNOT REINSTATE YOU WITHOUT A QUALIFYING EVENT. This means that once your coverage is terminated, we cannot reinstate it until your hours are paid in by your employer. So again, I urge you to submit your calendar cards monthly.
What happens to my benefits when I work out of the Local 98 area?
If you are working out of the Local 98 geographical area, the benefits you receive will be based on the Agreement your employer has with the Local in the area you are working in. The benefits and the rates vary by Local and the only benefits that will be reciprocated to your home local are the Health & Welfare, Pension, and Annuity Fund benefits, and only if those benefits are called for in the Agreement your employer has with that Local.
